Expanded air service between Sweden and Ireland

Beginning this March, there will be an expansion in air service between Sweden and Ireland as the Irish carrier Aer Lingus launches operations between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Dublin. Aer Lingus last flew to Stockholm Arlanda in 2002. Flights will now run four times a week with Airbus A320 aircraft.

Aer Lingus will start up service between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Dublin with a preliminary launch date of March 25. As a result, the airline will once again offer direct flights between Scandinavia and Ireland. The last time this happened, in 1990, Stockholm Arlanda was also served.

The planned route will be operated using Airbus 320 aircraft four times a week. With the additional flights, flying capacity will increase by close to 700 seats a week.

“The new route shows that there is considerable travel demand in the Stockholm region and Sweden, both from residents and visitors. And the best connections can be found at Stockholm Arlanda. Naturally, we hope that many more people will take advantage of this and experience spring in Dublin or Stockholm,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda.

Aer Lingus has about 4,000 employees and annual revenue of about EUR 1.2 billion. In 2010, the airline served 9.3 million passengers.
