“With check-in available outside the airport, we hope to make travel easier for passengers. When they are already set to fly upon arriving at Stockholm Arlanda, it means a faster process and shorter waiting time,” says Anna Arfors, product manager at Swedavia.
The check-in kiosks now in place are automated and offer the full range of functions. Passengers first choose what flight they are on and then follow instructions on a touch screen. Once the entire check-in process has been completed, passengers receive a boarding card and baggage tag right from the automated machine.
“We are happy to be able to expand service at our stations to passengers so that it is now easier to travel to the airport. With automated check-in machines at the stations, we hope travellers will opt to take the train to the airport rather than their car, which is better for the environment,” Cecilia Granath, press relations manager at Jernhusen.
The number of check-in kiosks is rapidly growing. Today, travellers flying out of Stockholm Arlanda can check in at the following places:
- Every terminal at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the long-term Alfa parking facility and the Airport Conference facility in Sky City.
- The Arlanda Express platform at Stockholm Central Train Station.
- The City Terminal Bus Station in Stockholm.
Passengers flying with Air France, Finnair, Icelandair, KLM, Norwegian and SAS can check in using the automated machines located outside the airport. Passengers flying with these airlines can likewise check in using the automated machines in the terminals, which are also available to passengers flying with Air China, British Airways, Höga Kusten/Golden Air, and in the near future Turkish Airlines. Check-in with the following tour operators is also possible using the automated machines in the terminals and at the Alfa long-term parking facility: Airtours, Alpresor, Apollo, Fritidsresor, Langley, Nazar, Nortlander, Springtime Travel and Ving.
Jernhusen and Swedavia are working together for a better environment by making it easier for passengers to travel by train or bus to the airport.
