On November 1 at 8.45 pm, the first passengers will start their journey on Thai Airways from Stockholm Arlanda. The new route announced today means that an additional 750 passengers can fly non-stop between the two countries. Flights will depart twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, with a Boeing 747. Passengers will land in Phuket the following day at 1.20 pm.
“Now we are not just the fastest to Bangkok but also to Phuket. Passengers and travel agencies have long been asking us to start non-stop service to Phuket and, given the strong demand for our product, this is now possible. With the new direct route to Phuket, we are expanding our presence in the Scandinavian market to Thailand, and with our nine connections from Copenhagen and seven from Oslo, we have a marvellous 25 flights a week to Thailand on offer. We are proud and pleased to offer the broadest, largest air service to Thailand, the Far East and Australia/New Zealand,” says Jonas Broström, district sales manager at Thai Airways.
“According to our projections, Swedes will spend more time abroad going forward. We are obviously extremely pleased and are happy for our passengers that Stockholm is getting expanded non-stop service to Thailand,” says Michael Persson Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia.
Thai Airways has been offering daily service on the route Stockholm Arlanda Airport–Bangkok with a similar aircraft for some time. This route will not be affected by the new launch but will continue to offer daily service.
